Recording, Mixing and Composing
(without the faff of booking a big studio you don’t need)
You need parts recorded, a track mixed, or music written and arranged properly. But you don’t want the cost and hassle of block-booking a commercial studio for something that could be done brilliantly in an afternoon. Or you’ve recorded something yourself and it’s not quite sitting right yet.
I’ve spent the last few years building a music studio at the end of my garden. It is soundproof and acoustically treated and genuinely lovely to spend a day in. Alongside my own session, orchestral and West End work, I record, mix, compose and arrange for other people’s projects, using the same gear and ears I bring to professional commercial studio sessions.
What I offer:
Recording
Trumpet, flugel, piccolo trumpet, cornet, natural trumpet and more. Alto saxophone, upright piano, electric and acoustic guitars, and double bass (my wife is a professional classical double bassist), and a drum kit. Not to brag, but I also know hundreds of fantastic instrumentalists and singers, and most of them owe me a favour, so can put together any combination of musicians.
The internal space is 5×4 m2,which can comfortably fit up to 6 people. It has the capacity and equipment to record whole rhythm sections, brass sections, string groups, singers.
And… it has air conditioning.
Mixing
Send me over your project or record it here and I’ll take it all the way.
Composing and Arranging
From a simple arrangement to composing a jingle, a song, or something for a theatre work or film soundtrack, for any size of ensemble.
How it works:
1. Tell me about your project
Get in touch, whether is a single trumpet part to be recorded, a full mix, or something written from scratch.
2. Get a plan
I’ll come back with how I’d approach it, a timeline, and a cost, so there are no surprises.
3. We record, mix, or write it
You get the music you’re proud of.
